Join the upcoming 24th National Symposium for Applied Biological Sciences (NSABS) on 4 February 2019
at Ghent University! NSABS 2019 will bring together junior researchers,
postdocs and group leaders in the field of applied biological sciences.
Free registration until 21 January and abstract submission by
December 14 → December 19 → December 23,
an appointment not to miss in your 2019 agenda!
The full-day symposium will encompass a wide variety of research topics in applied biological sciences, and particularly encourages PhD students to present their work, meet and exchange ideas across researchers and institutions. It is an opportunity to present your research to a broad audience (for starting PhD students perhaps for a first time). Questions from the audience and feedback on oral presentations can help to improve your research. Prizes will be awarded for the best oral and poster presentations. This symposium also offers the opportunity for networking among colleagues.
Two plenary speakers will give invited talks tailored to the symposium. Dr. Jean-luc Doumont will present "The three laws of communication", focusing on research communication skills, while Prof. dr. ir. Arjen Y. Hoekstra will present "The environmental footprint of humanity: A reflection on consumption patterns, trade and planetary boundaries" with a scientific focus relating to the theme of the symposium.
This year the symposium is organized around the theme "Sustainability Now". Coinciding with this theme, for the first time the organizing committee has taken on the challenge of organizing a carbon neutral symposium. Participants are encouraged to use shared or clean transportation, their carbon footprint will be compensated with credits, and we will offer a vegetarian and sustainable catering.
